Book Planning
In some ways, writing a book plan can be the most challenging and the most exhilarating component of the writing process. It’s a time to revel in the imagining of every which way your story could be told until the moment you gush, “That’s it!” And in that moment, the roadmap that will lead you to a completed manuscript suddenly becomes clear.
Creating a book plan involves a series of calls in which you share with me your vision, your why, your story, and I pepper you with questions that prompt the anecdotes and information that will bring your story into full view. I then provide you a draft of your book plan for your review and make any needed revisions.

With a clear book plan in place, we’ll begin talking through your book one chapter at a time on a weekly or bi-weekly basis that fits your busy schedule. Prior to each call, I will send you prompts to spark stories and ideas about the content for the chapter we’ll be talking through. We’ll also establish a schedule for deliverables, so you know when you can expect written content from me and the timeline for you to review and respond with your edits.
Chapter by chapter, we will write your book together, and once every chapter has been drafted, we’ll review your full manuscript before I complete the final, polished line edit.
Editing

Congratulations, you’ve completed the first draft of your manuscript! Before you send it off to an agent or publishing house or begin the self-publishing process, let’s make all your hard work pay off with a professional edit. I offer two levels of editing.
Developmental Edit: Developmental editing is an in-depth review and revision process that focuses on the content and structure of your non-fiction book or novel. Some key components of the developmental edit are:
- Tone and style
- Structure
- Pacing
- Setting
- Potential plot holes or missing content
Line Edit: While the developmental edit is all about the big picture view and making sure the pieces all fit, the line edit involves careful review of each line of the manuscript for content, style, and language use, assuring every sentence is the very best it can be.
